Day 1: Arrival in Moshi or Arusha

  • Overview: Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). Relax and prepare for the adventure.
  • Activities:
    • Transfer to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha.
    • Meet with your mountain guide for a briefing session, safety orientation, and equipment check.
    • Get a good night’s rest before your trek begins.
  • Accommodation: Comfortable hotel in Moshi or Arusha.

Day 2: Machame Gate (1,800m) to Machame Camp (3,000m)

  • Distance: 11 km | Time: 5-7 hours | Altitude Gain: 1,200m.
  • Trek Details:
    • After breakfast, drive to Machame Gate for park registration.
    • Begin your trek through a lush rainforest with dense vegetation, moss-covered trees, and streams.
    • Wildlife sightings: Colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, and a variety of birds.
    • Arrive at Machame Camp in the moorland zone for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Machame Camp (3,000m) to Shira Camp (3,840m)

    • Trek through rolling hills, rocky ridges, and beautiful landscapes with panoramic views of Mount Meru and the Shira Plateau.
    • Pass through giant lobelias and heather, characteristic plants of this zone.
    • Arrive at Shira Camp in the afternoon.

Day 4: Shira Camp (3,840m) to Lava Tower (4,630m), then to Barranco Camp (3,960m)

  • Distance: 10 km | Time: 6-8 hours | Altitude Gain/Loss: +790m, -670m.
  • Trek Details:
    • A challenging acclimatization day. Ascend to Lava Tower at 4,630m, where lunch is served.
    • This is an essential day for altitude adjustment, so expect fatigue but know it will help with summit success.
    • Descend to Barranco Camp, situated below the iconic Great Barranco Wall.
    • Enjoy views of glaciers and the summit from below.

Day 5: Barranco Camp (3,960m) to Karanga Camp (4,035m)

  • Distance: 5 km | Time: 4-5 hours | Altitude Gain: 75m.

    • Start your day with an exciting climb up the Great Barranco Wall – a non-technical but steep scramble.
    • Cross rocky ridges and valleys through alpine desert terrain.
    • Arrive at Karanga Camp for a shorter acclimatization day.

Day 6: Karanga Camp (4,035m) to Barafu Camp (4,640m)

    • A steady and challenging trek to Barafu Camp, the base camp for the summit attempt.
    • Relax, eat dinner early, and get rest before the midnight summit push.
    • Prepare warm layers, headlamps, and water for summit day.

Day 7: Summit Day – Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), then Descend to Mweka Camp (3,100m)

  • Distance: 17 km | Time: 12-14 hours | Altitude Gain: +1,255m | Altitude Loss: -2,795m.
  • Trek Details:
    • Start: Midnight departure for the summit. The trail winds up through scree and icy slopes.
    • Arrive at Stella Point (5,739m) by sunrise, then continue to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa.
    • Enjoy panoramic views and take photos before descending.
    • Descend to Mweka Camp for overnight stay after a celebratory rest at Barafu.

Day 8: Mweka Camp (3,100m) to Mweka Gate (1,640m) – Return to Moshi/Arusha

    • Arrive at Mweka Gate, collect summit certificates, and say goodbye to the crew.

Day 9: Departure
